The Challenge

As the state's leading nonprofit working to protect threatened and endangered wildlife species in New Jersey, Conserve Wildlife Foundation has its hands full. With limited staff and financial resources, CWF recognized the need to expand its presence on the web in order to meet its educational, research and advocacy goals.

However, broken is how one might best describe CWF's web presence in 2009 when they approached Fusionspark Media for help. The site's overall design, structure and navigation was clunky with many dead links and essential functions like donation and membership pages were all but missing.

CWF is also an organization with rich storytelling potential, however some of their greatest story-content was hidden and inaccessible to all but the most persistent site visitor.

The Strategy

CWF turned to us because of our deep experience in creating compelling online productions about environmental and conservation issues. Through a strategy development process, we help CWF re-envision how it could use the web to tell stories, educate citizens and expand its fundraising opportunities.

This process included documentation outlining search engine optimization needs, competing forces, audience and stakeholder needs and detailed content recommendations. Our role also included pitching the entire web strategy package to CWF's board of directors to gain approval before moving forward.

The Result

We completely overhauled CWF's web presence including a redesign of its enewsletter. The new site is supported by our intuitive content management system enabling any CWF staff member to instantly update or add content.

Special features of the site include an Interactive Species Database, a Multimedia/ Video Channel, Mapping Tools, Image Gallery for Students, ePostcards, and much more. Links to donation, adopt-a-species and membership pages are prominent and have helped drive overall increase interest in and support for CWF's mission and programs.
